Marketing for agricultural commodity traders

Growers and cooperatives on the supply side, millers and importers on the buy side. Vektron builds both sides of the trade.

Opening a new origin or a new buyer market

Traders in grains, oilseeds, coffee, cocoa, sugar, cotton and other soft commodities work to quality specifications, inspection regimes, seasons and freight. Supply is spread across many growers and cooperatives, while millers and food processors buy on tight specifications from existing supplier lists. A trader entering a new origin or market has to build both sides of the trade at once.

How Vektron times outreach to the crop

We map cooperatives and aggregators in the origin, and millers and importers in the destination market, and find the procurement or origination lead at each. Approaches go out ahead of harvest and buying windows, and we coordinate sample and inspection dates once a buyer engages.

Pricing, inspection, shipping and trade finance are the trader's decisions, as are the contracts.

Questions

How do agricultural traders find buyers in a new market? Importers and millers buy against grade and season. The first approach should arrive before their buying window opens.

Does Vektron arrange shipping or inspection? Vektron coordinates the meeting schedule. Logistics and inspection contracts are the trader's own.
